WEST CARGO FACILITIES
San Francisco International Airport

The San Francisco International Airport’s West Cargo Facilities project is a combination cargo and office building with floor space totaling over 100,000-sf. The one-story cargo building is flanked by two three-story office wings supported by piles.

One of the challenging aspects of this project was its location since a portion of the building occupied an existing taxiway at the San Francisco International Airport. Due to this project’s proximity to airport operations, close coordination was required on an ongoing basis during construction to avoid interruptions and delays to the contractors’ work. Completion of a new taxiway to replace the existing one was required before foundation work could begin.

In addition to overall construction management services, the construction management team provided hazardous materials abatement oversight and removal, relocation, and installation of utility services to and from the area of the project site.

EPC provided resident engineering services on this project as part of the joint venture.
