EPC Board of Directors appoints Liliana Maldonado, PE as External Director

Ms. Maldonado has over 40 years of experience in the engineering, environmental and construction industries with a focus on water infrastructure and environmental stewardship. Over the span of her career, she has worked in research, has held leadership positions with several local government water sector entities in Atlanta, Washington DC and Virginia, and has held executive management positions with global, industry-leading engineering and manufacturing firms. Liliana received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico in 1979 and a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1980.

 

Ms. Maldonado is the author of numerous publications in peer-reviewed literature including technical papers, presentations and articles for Water Environment Federation journals and conferences, engineering industry periodicals and technical and professional conferences.  She has also received many awards over the years including being honored as a Fellow by the Water Environment Federation in 2016, receiving the Hispanic Engineers National Achievement Award for Professional Achievement in 2002 and the Arthur Sydney Bedell Award from the Water Environment Federation in 1999.

 

Liliana’s extensive knowledge in both the private and public sectors will contribute to shaping our long-term vision at EPC and we’re confident that her unique perspectives and diverse skill sets will complement our existing leadership team and provide fresh insights as we drive EPC forward.

Mr. Emilio Cruz has joined our firm as Vice President in our San Francisco office as part of our executive management team pursuing and strategizing on new opportunities in the Program and Construction Management sectors. Emilio has over 30 years of program and project management experience and he’s held several leadership positions on major infrastructure projects both on the client’s side and as a consultant.

He’s received commendations for his leadership including the Mayor’s Fiscal Advisory Committee Award for Managerial Excellence for his outstanding performance as Program Manager of the Waterfront Transportation Projects and he’s served on various boards including the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Institute Board of Directors, San Francisco Board of Education, American Red Cross San Francisco Leadership Board, Hispanic Scholarship Fund, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of San Francisco, and, most recently, on the Unity Council. Emilio received his Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from Stanford University. He has two children in college, resides in Oakland, and is a fifth degree black belt instructor in White Tiger Kung Fu.

EPC Consultants, Inc. announced in December that its board of directors has appointed EPC Vice President of Corporate Development Rene J. Noriega, as President effective January 1st, 2023. 

Current President Steve Wang will remain as the Managing Principal and will also take on the role of Vice President for Strategic Development.

Noriega joined EPC in 1999 and worked on various major infrastructure projects at SFO, VTA, and other Bay Area public agencies.  In 2019, he became Vice President and played a critical role in the collaboration towards both the restructuring of EPC's organization and planning for the firm's current business and staffing growth.  He is tireless, proactive, and focused.

With over 25 of years of experience in engineering and project management, Mr. Noriega has been involved in a variety of major infrastructure projects ranging in value of $50M to $11B including airports, highways, rail, transit, buildings, and utilities and pipelines.  Through this experience and previously serving as Principal and Vice President of Corporate Development, Rene's many accomplishments greatly exhibited his dedication to the support and success of all EPC team members and inherently the quality of service to our clients.
