The I-80/Gilman Street Interchange Improvement Project modernized one of Berkeley's busiest freeway interchanges to improve traffic operations, enhance multimodal connectivity, and increase safety for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. The project addressed long-standing congestion while improving access between Interstate 80, local roadways, and surrounding commercial and residential areas.
Major improvements included reconstruction of roadway approaches, bridge modifications, upgraded traffic signals, improved bicycle and pedestrian facilities, utility relocations, drainage improvements, and enhanced intersection operations. The project supports long-term regional mobility while providing safer and more efficient access throughout the corridor.
EPC provided construction management support during project implementation, assisting with construction coordination, contractor oversight, quality assurance, project documentation, and field inspection. EPC worked collaboratively with Caltrans and project stakeholders to help deliver these critical transportation improvements while maintaining quality and schedule objectives.
